I have an ever growing collection of RC cars from novel, toy grade, stunt cars, to high-end hobby grade bashers and crawlers. I like all scales of car, and have as much fun drifting a 1:64 mini drifter on my desk, as jumping a 1:14 basher at the skate park. It depends on what I’m in the mood for.
When I’m in the mood for driving a car that needs space and can drive over most anything, I grab a 1:10 and hit the local trails. Currently my favorite “big” car, is the DEERC 209e. It’s big, brushless, beautiful, and a well balanced basher with plenty of power accompanied by speed.
My very first RC car was a 1:18 basher by DEERC. As a learner car, I broke it often until I progressed into a better driver. Thankfully, DEERC has some of the best customer service I’ve experienced anywhere, and I’ve been a DEERC fan ever since.
The kit is RTR(ready to run), with (2)batteries, and all you need in a big, and cool, DEERC box.
The truck looks tough, and built for bashing. Stock, most parts are flexible nylon with metal used where most needed(like the driveline). I use to upgrade some of my first cars with metal aftermarket parts. This is fun, to turn wrenches, can tighten performance, and look great on a display shelf.
Most hobby grade DEERC cars have aftermarket metal parts you can get and install yourself. I have enjoyed this, but after bending and tweaking lots of expensive metal parts in crashes, I have come to appreciate the flexibility of shock absorbing nylon parts. They flex before breaking, absorbs shocks, and cheaper than metal to replace.
This kit includes a left and right spare set of swingarms if you break some. Also, the 209e is designed with the same swingarms front and rear, and are interchangeable.
The controller is comfortable in the hand, with smooth wheel/trigger, and feathers well. It’s the same controller I’ve seen on DEERC cars for years, and are reliable, but I would like to see an update soon to a more compact and solid feeling controller.
With the brushless motor, the car has plenty of torque, and gets to over 35mph in a blink! It’s wide, stable at speed, and even though there is no gyro, does well at stabilizing for catlike landings when jumping.
I have most of the current DEERC line of brushless cars(308e, 8618, 14210), and all are some of my favorite RCs. The 902e is almost twice as large as the next scale, and just by its size, capable of traversing more diverse and challenging terrain. It’s so stable, it’s actually easier to drive and control the powerful brushless motor, than the squirrelly, smaller scales.
Overall, this big 1:10 basher is another very good car from DEERC. It has plenty of brushless torque, speed, and stability to bash at the skate park, and big enough to climb difficult mountain trails.
More importantly, if something does go wrong, I can immediately contact the excellent customer service at DEERC. 5 stars👍🏼
