Order fulfillment was OK, but I am still diagnosing a problem with Low Voltage Cutoff after upgrading both the DEERC 2104 ESC and DEERC TX766 brushless motor. Both were sourced from DEERC.com and installed at the same time.
A friend gets about 20 minutes of runtime with his DEERC boat. I used to get almost the same with my AlphaRev R608 boat, which is essentially the same. After each run, the battery in his boat shows 8-10% remaining capacity on my voltage tester. Meanwhile, my boat now gets less than 5 minutes of run time with ~75% battery capacity left. I’ve had the boat for almost 3 years with almost no problems. We are both meticulously maintain our small RC boats after each outing. The same problem occurs when I run one of his batteries in my boat, or run one of mine in his.
According to ChatGPT, possible problems, ranked by probability, include: (1) Excessive current draw / voltage sag, (2) Motor/propeller mismatch even though we use the same prop, (3) ESC LVC behavior with factory settings that don’t allow for tuning, (4) High-resistance connector issue even though they and the cables look OK, (5) Mechanical shaft drag even with proper grease lubrication each run, and (6) Thermal shutdown even though my laser thermometer never measures temps above about 100 degrees. I have a whole list of items to test next but am not happy to go through all this.
Deerc 2104 boats are great. Good value for a fast boat for sure. We have 3 of them. Parts do brake or wear and its nice to be able to buy spares. I would buy another new 2104 but I believe they have been superseded by a newer model.
