How to confirm battery and charger compatibility

Do not select a replacement battery or charger based only on appearance, capacity or connector shape.

Check these details before use

  • Product modelMatch the model printed on the product, packaging or manual.
  • Battery part numberUse the exact approved replacement whenever a part number is provided.
  • Nominal voltageThe required voltage must match the product and approved charger.
  • Battery chemistryDo not substitute a different battery chemistry without written approval.

These habits help reduce avoidable battery damage and make charging problems easier to identify.

Use the approved charger

Use only the supplied charging equipment or an exact replacement approved for the same product model and battery.

Stop when power drops

Stop driving when speed, motor power or steering response noticeably decreases. Do not continue until the vehicle stops completely.

Cool before charging

After use, allow the battery to return to room temperature before connecting it to the charger.

Inspect after crashes

After a hard collision, rollover or drop, inspect the battery, wires, connector and battery compartment before charging again.

Stop using damaged batteries

Never charge or use a battery that is swollen, crushed, punctured, leaking, unusually hot, discolored or otherwise damaged.

Inspect the battery and charging equipment before every charge.

Choose the right location

Charge at room temperature in a dry, well-ventilated area on a hard, flat, non-combustible surface away from paper, fabric, carpet, bedding and other flammable materials.

Remain nearby

Observe the battery while it is charging. When the product is used by a child, charging should be performed or directly supervised by a responsible adult. Never charge overnight, while sleeping, inside a hot vehicle or while the battery is unattended.

Stop if anything looks wrong

Disconnect the charging system if the battery becomes unusually hot, swells, leaks, smells unusual, hisses, smokes or if the charger repeatedly reports an error.

What to do after a crash or hard impact

A battery may be internally damaged even when the outside appears normal.

Turn off the product

Stop operating the RC product and disconnect the battery as soon as it is safe to do so.

Remove and cool

Move the battery away from combustible materials and allow it to cool before inspection.

Inspect before charging

Check for swelling, dents, punctures, torn wrapping, damaged wires, loose connectors, leakage, discoloration, unusual heat or odor.

If a battery swells, overheats, smokes or burns

Stop using or charging the battery immediately.

  • Disconnect the charger from wall power only when this can be done safely.
  • Keep people and animals away from the battery.
  • Do not pick up, squeeze, puncture, flatten, open or attempt to repair the battery.
  • Do not inhale smoke or fumes and do not touch leaking material.
  • Move away, evacuate when necessary and contact local emergency services.
  • Do not reuse, recharge, mail or ship a swollen, leaking, punctured or fire-damaged battery.

Why does my new DEERC battery look different?

Selected products may use an updated battery format in newer production batches. Battery appearance may therefore differ from older manuals, videos or customer photos.

Use the product model, battery part number, voltage, chemistry, connector, polarity and approved charging specification to identify the correct battery. Do not rely on shape alone.

Is a soft-pack battery automatically safer than a cylindrical battery?

No battery format is risk-free. Safe use depends on the complete battery system, including cell quality, protection circuitry, product design, charger compatibility, installation, handling and maintenance.

An updated battery format does not make an unapproved charger safe to use.

Can I use another charger for my DEERC RC battery?

No, unless DEERC expressly confirms that the charger is compatible with the exact product model and battery part number.

Use only the charger supplied with the product or an exact approved replacement. A connector that fits does not guarantee compatible voltage, polarity, charging current or charge-control method.

What happens if an RC battery is fully discharged?

Deep discharge may permanently reduce operating time, usable capacity and power output. A severely over-discharged battery may no longer charge normally.

Stop operating the product when speed, motor power or steering response noticeably decreases. Do not repeatedly reconnect or attempt to “wake” a battery that the approved charger will not recognize.

Can I charge the battery immediately after driving?

Allow the battery to return to room temperature before charging. Do not charge a battery that is still hot from use.

Can I charge an RC battery after a crash?

Inspect the battery first. Disconnect it, allow it to cool and check for swelling, dents, punctures, damaged wrapping, loose wires, leakage, unusual heat or odor.

Do not charge the battery if any damage or abnormal condition is present.

What should I do if my RC battery is swollen?

Stop using and charging it immediately. Do not press, flatten, puncture, open or attempt to release gas from the battery.

Keep the battery away from people, animals and combustible materials. Contact DEERC Customer Support or a local hazardous-waste facility for handling and disposal guidance.

Why is my RC battery hot or not charging?

Possible causes include a battery that has not cooled after use, deep discharge, impact damage, a damaged wire or connector, an incompatible charger or an internal battery fault.

Disconnect the battery, allow it to cool and inspect it. Do not try several unrelated chargers or repeatedly reconnect it. Contact support if the approved charger still does not recognize the battery.

How should I store my DEERC RC battery?

Disconnect and remove the battery when practical. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heaters, hot vehicles, metal objects, children and pets.

Do not store a damaged battery or leave a battery fully depleted for an extended period. Follow the storage instructions for the exact battery and product model.

How should I dispose of a used or damaged lithium battery?

Do not place lithium batteries in household trash or curbside recycling. Take an undamaged end-of-life battery to an authorized battery recycler, electronics take-back facility or household hazardous-waste collection point.

Damaged, swollen, leaking, hot or recalled batteries may require special handling. Contact the facility before transporting the battery.
