Out of the box, you simply charge the battery and this DEERC Boat is ready to go. I have purchased two, one for my wife and one for myself. I have had mine a little longer and I let her try it, she was hooked.... so was I, for the second boat. This DEERC 'Fashion' Boat is fast and it handled the rough lake waves like a champ. No struggle, no bogging down, it simply just went. The boat is easily controlled though I only had about a 125-150 ft. distance before I was out of range at the lake. The only downside I have really found is that the battery is more of a specialized battery so you are limited on choices for backup batteries, though the DEERC one works well and lasts 15-20 minutes. I have several types of smaller 3S batteries from my cars that I thought would easily fit the boat, but all are a fraction too big. That fraction will not allow the top to close for battery compartment and it would net be sealed to keep out water. The two tier setup to get to the battery is simple to remove and put back together, as they use swing latches and once all is aligned properly, it easily attaches. Make sure not to force it and if you find yourself forcing the latches, something is misaligned. The latches and double tier system do a great job to keep water out as the inside stays totally dry. I see some complaining of the charger included. It is basic and somewhat slow to charge, but it does the job and does it safely. I admit I use one of my car chargers for quicker charge times, but the included charger works and is reliable. Just need more patience. Our RC experience includes having several RC cars, that are 1/8, 1/14 and 1/16 scale and so we are familiar with the RC world, but new to the RC boats. Each are fun in their own ways. For people just starting into RC boats, this DEERC Fashion Boat is the way to go. It handles very well, rights itself upright if it goes upside down or even fully submerged it will pop back up without you having to do anything. I have had mine upside down many times and each time, it turns back over and I'm on my way.Speed wise, I'm unsure of the 30mph, but I feel it comes quite close. I have no accurate way to measure, but it is plenty fast to scoot on the water and creates a nice spray. Very happy with speed though. The boat seems well made, but you need to be careful on the water if more than one boat is also moving. My wife is still learning to drive it (cars too) but unlike the RC cars, if you crash, you may not be able to repair it. She had her boat in the water for maybe 10 minutes (not even a full battery) and cut in front of my boat and we hit. Her boat was damaged badly with a good sized hole.I got a hold of DEERC to see if I can get parts for her boat to fix it. They got back within 24 hours and I explained what happened and shared pictures and after a few emails back and forth, they resolved the issue quickly. They are replacing the boat, even though it is not a manufacturing issue, but was human caused. Needless to say, we are very happy, shocked and surprised.DEERC Boats are great for beginners and advanced users, you can control them easily with practice, they are fast, pretty durable and an overall great boat. Add to it, awesome customer service and you can't go wrong. Highly recommend them.
